What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are very small titanium posts which we surgically insert into your jawbone. These posts act as anchors to replace the roots where your teeth are missing. Your surrounding bone will bond with the titanium, which allows the creation of a strong foundation for the replacement teeth.

In the past, if you were missing teeth, you would be given a set of false teeth which were usually awkward and unnatural-looking. Thanks to modern technology, we can now provide you with dental implants, which allow us to replace your missing teeth with restoration teeth which are strong and natural-looking.

Benefits of dental implants

  • They are a truly durable restoration. Most dental restorations have to be replaced at some point, but a dental implant can last the rest of your life! (Dependent on your taking good care of them.)
  • They can make eating enjoyable again. When you have missing teeth, it’s common to skip some of your favorite foods or to simply feel bashful when dining out. Once you have your implants, you can return to eating what you want, when you want.
  • They provide a way to prevent bone loss. When you lose a tooth, you may also lose the underlying bone structure that supports it. If you don’t get your tooth loss treated, your jawbone will begin to deteriorate. Implant dentistry allows us to prevent a sagging jaw by placing a dental implant or implant dentures as soon as we can after you’ve lost a tooth.

The Dental Implant Process

Performing a dental implant procedure is a relatively painless and easy process. At Montz & Maher Dental Group, we can perform same-day dental implants surgery, carefully placing the implants into your jawbone.

After the implants have bonded with your jawbone, you’ll come back in to receive your new replacement teeth.

Though we can place the implants conveniently for you at our office in just one day, the complete process for receiving dental implants typically takes anywhere from six to eight months. However, most of our patients experience very little disruption to their daily routine.

Implant Supported Dentures

As your dental implants dentists, Dr. Montz, Dr. Maher, and Dr. Dunwody are pleased to offer implant-supported dentures that are a true innovation in implant dentistry. This process is known by many different names: “All on 4”, “Pro Arch”, “Revitalize”, “Teeth in a Day”.

At Montz & Maher Dental Group we offer the All on 4 Treatment Concept- designed by Nobel Biocare the inventors and leading experts with decades of research. Our dentists choose to offer the All on 4® Treatment Concept, because it is what they would choose for their own mouths if they needed an implant-supported denture.

As your preferred implant dentists, Dr. Montz, Dr. Maher, and Dr. Dunwody will place anywhere between four to six implants in your jaw. Most of the time patients are able to go home with their denture fixed in place the day the implants are placed. These implants will fuse with your jaw, creating a firm, permanent base for your dentures.
